Schooled

I just finished Schooled by Anisha Lakhani. What fun! It was an easy read and engaging. The main character, Anna, was interesting, naive at times but funny.  There was little emotional investment involved as I will never be in her shoes or the shoes of the other characters. There were a few times when I wanted Anna to make a different choice but I wasn't upset that she didn't. Her thoughts/reactions felt natural and real. I was able to relate to her completely, even being in a very different place in life. The most surprising part was the ending. I won't spoil it for you but Anna grows through the book and the end is an end of hope. I finished reading the book feeling upbeat and excited. I was smiling and ready for a laugh. I would recommend this book to others. Having read other books with a similar topic, I think this was a different and interesting perspective. This book would make a great audio book, perhaps read by Julia Roberts just as she did The Nanny Diaries.
