A New Year Beginning

Happy New Year. May this year be filled with wonderful thing for you and the ones that you love. Over here at The Messy Organic Mum things will be changing a little bit too. For those of you who read about the delicious Cinnamon Rolls,  you know that along with the holidays, I also got some pretty intense information: my contract for my part-time work from home gig was not going to be renewed. While our family will miss the monthly paycheck, we can live off just my husband's. This has actually provided me some relief. The twenty hours a week that I was working can now be focused on our growing family, our small homestead and getting our lives a little more organized. While we all have 24 hours in the day, we all use it differently. I am looking forward to using my time differently.

A few great changes in our lives will relate to you, my wonderful readers.

First, as per many of your requests, I have started a Facebook page. Please feel free to give me a 'Like" whenever you see something you enjoy (and to share of course).

One of the first things I will be using the Facebook page for will be to participate in my own 100 Happy Days project. Perhaps it is silly but so many things on our small homestead make me happy every day so for the next 100 days I am going to share a photo of one thing that made me happy that day. My lovely sister recently started her own 100 Happy Days project and it has inspired and reminded me to take a moment every day to enjoy all those little things that make us happy. Please feel free to join me and start your own 100 Happy Days project. Can you think of a better way to kick off the new year (besides winning the lottery)? If you aren't ready to take on a whole 100 days of being happy, leave a comment below telling us one thing that made you happy today, this week or so far this year.

Another reason for starting a Facebook page, is so that I may use some of their tools. I would like to run a couple of polls this year so that I can find out what exactly all you readers prefer to read about. Do you prefer recipes without processed sugar or the silly tales of our homestead, book reviews or product reviews? This summer we would also like to come up with a name for our homestead and I know that all of your crafty readers might have some great suggestions.

Also, while this website has been mostly about the homestead and our organic life, there are currently three children living here and another on the way. I have not ventured into to many of our parenting ways or education ideas, many of which we are still exploring. After all, as people and parents, my husband and I are growing every day. Just as I read gardening books, I also read a lot of different books and articles about children, child rearing, child development and education. There are lots of different websites out there dedicated to each of these specific topics so I have stayed away from including it. There have been a few private requests though and if it is something that interests others, I am more than happy to share our experiences. Again, I am hoping that the polling feature in Facebook will help me with this. If not I am sure there is a widget that will do it.

I believe that I also owe a few of you a nice post on whatever happened to Breakfast and Snort (aka Soup). While I am sure that most of you can guess that they are being enjoyed during our meals, I have been asked to share the final cost and details. Your wish will be granted soon.

As for any other changes, I will keep you updated and would love for you to share your thoughts in either the comments below or through the options on Facebook (which I am still learning about so please be patient).

Happy New Year!
